Ava Kling is a creative technologist developing mediated reality applications, with experience creating IoT device ecosystems, testing smart contract enabled websites, and establishing immersive brand identity. Some of Ms. Kling’s other research regards quadruped robotics manipulation, and the expansion of virtual worlds, such as virtual memory, a project granted five years of development by the Frank-Ratchye STUDIO for Creative Inquiry and other Pittsburgh Fellowships. Ms. Kling received her Bachelors of Fine Arts in Art from Carnegie Mellon University, and certifications in computer science from the University of Pittsburgh, game design from University of Baltimore, and virtual reality from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Ms. Kling promotes environmental activism through her volunteer work in the sustainable development of CalEarth adobe architecture, and participation in clean energy initiatives. She manages community outreach projects such as arts education, concerts, and accessible virtual reality workshops. Ms. Kling developed immersive experiences and produced events for museums including the August Wilson Center, the Andy Warhol Museum, and the Carnegie Museum Library. She works to inspire collaboration between communities and experimentation at the intersection of design and technology.
