Mirage: Virtual Memory Spa
A series of workshops to fabricate virtual memories and share ideas with the community in mediated reality.
The Mirage exists in several realms: the social, represented through an app where users can contribute their memories to a larger pool, the virtual, an alternate reality in VR where these memories, augmented with 3D imagery, can be accessed by users, and the physical, the fixed structure of the Pod that users enter to access these.

Recreating Memory in Virtual Reality
Memories are fabricated through five steps: register, interview, fabricate, share, and treatment. To access a completed memory, the memory spa can also be accessed through virtualmemoryspa.org
The five steps of the process to create a virtual memory are visualized through planetary travel.

The Pod

A portal from the altered physical reality to the virtual memory vault. Physically, a twelve foot representation of how dodecahedrons could be packed together in three-space if the world was a three-sphere instead of euclidian.
The Experience
Memories are fabricated through five steps: register, interview, fabricate, share, and treatment. To access a completed memory, the memory spa can also be accessed through virtualmemoryspa.org

Interaction
Guests are invited to participate through the installation series, as well as on the web based platform. Through a guided virtual process, a new member can submit their memory to be uploaded.
The virtual guide, M.O. assists the user through a series of interactive shaders, and processes the shared data to create a new virtual memory.

Alternate Physical Reality

The portal from the altered physical reality to the virtual memory vault takes form as a twelve-foot dodecahedron pavilion.
The viewer is guided through the transendence by performers, nested in an eskrem chair and a virtual reality headset.
Virtual Memory
A virtual memory walkthrough in an equirectangular viewing portal. An interpretation of memory in the virtual using found artifacts, documents, audio, and animation.
